As for snowflake day 10 talking about someone whose fanworks/presence you want to CELEBRATE.. skipping, for now, because I want to rave on gloss some more, but lack the spoons at the moment! And really, I do it quite often. :P

And Day 11 has now posted while this window has been open, waiting for me to finish: In your own space, share a favorite piece of original canon (a TV episode, a song, a favourite interview, a book) and explain why you love it so much. Here, have the entirety of The Inside available on YouTube. If you require downloads, I orprozacpark would be happy to hook you up as the series is very unlikely to receive a DVD release, and the creators encourage finding the series by whatever means.

Oh, look, Day 12! In your own space, rec at least three fanworks that you think would make a good intro into XYZ fandom. Rec a fandom overview, a introductory picspam, stories that define and shape the fandom. If at all possible, try to pick a smaller or rarer fandom, one that maybe doesn't have the following you feel it should.

Day 13: In your own space, ask for recs. Something as simple as "I like XYZ (where XYZ is a kink, a pairing, a trope, etc) - please rec me some."

And finally, for now, day 14: In your own space, write a love letter to Fandom in general, to a particular fandom, to a trope, a relationship, a character, or to your flist/circle/followers. Share you love and squee as loud as you want to. Skipping this one as well, though if you'd like to leave a comment with the name of a character, I'll write a short drabble about someone/something THEY love!

It's my first time captaining, and I'm excited, mostly? I'm sure I'll get nervous in a bit.

Sick sick.

Half the office and half the team has this crud... and apparently H1N1 is going around the schools, so gah, just praying I don't have that.

My team lost on Saturday... thanks if you wore teal in solidarity! Definitely single-handedly won the after party while starting to get sick which made for a bad rest of the weekend full of bad choices (smoking a cigarette? REALLY? You thought that would be a good idea?) and Monday off of work. Today, I'm just trying to medicate enough to be at work with minimal fever.

Please:
1) hit me with the not-sucky writing stick if you have it
2) rec me some web comics (or just comics in general that I can read on screen, at work, for free)

On the up side, the weather is suspiciously nice which means the return of the old man and his dog which you'll recognize if you've read Horn of Plenty (which I linked to, kindly). Gah, they make me so delighted.

New Girl tonight!

 Things that I did today:

1. Tidied up fivetimesbb idea into something manageable (two crossovers out of five agree)
2. Finished my part of the rarewomen matching spreadsheets
3. Shopped, briefly
4. Drove an hour and a half with two passengers and said only one sentence (oh, introversion!)
5. Thought about recast_bigbang (It starts at a wedding.)
6. Thought about New Girl and zombies (Jess makes the first kill, screaming and flailing wildly with the only weapon available, her crochet needles. Cece is surprised by how quickly she becomes really fucking good at shooting a rifle.)
7. Thought about a Parks high school AU (Ann feels herself slipping deeper and deeper into Leslie and Lindsay's over-lapping shadows as they move farther and farther apart.)
8. Held up a score board
9. Drove an hour and a half with two passengers and talked slightly more 
10. Thought about how awesome roller derby is. And it is. Awesome.

The bout went really well. Hosting is always a flurry of activity and last-minutes, but it pulled together (minus a brief snafu of drama, one that I think will be resolved soon) and we made the other team work HARD for their 20 point win. Considering the last time we played them we lost by over 100? We did fucking awesomely. I'm so proud of everyone, and proud to be a member of such an incredible team.

As far as I know, the only serious injury goes out to my wife, who coached. She jumped on her bad knee, sending it back about three months in healing.

Such a huge expenditure of energy left me feeling vulnerable, however. I've spent the past two nights sobbing in my dreams. Saturday, it was wave after wave of rejection, judgment, and being left behind/out. Last night, I suppose the tears were more of joy, with a darkness behind them.

Let me tell you about my dream from last night. I don't remember chronologically, so bits and pieces.
- My mother told me she almost disowned me when I came out. (this kind of colored the rest of the dream)
- I found out a number of celebrities were gay: Kristin Chenowith performed a song from Wicked (with a female co-star) ending with a kiss by a Christmas tree, for a family audience. In a question-and-answer session afterwards, I told her how much it meant to me, to be presented with the possibility of belonging. Dakota Fanning (future!Dakota Fanning, she was older) was topless under overalls (surprisingly hot, or not surprisingly at all) and her nipples were pierced and she confessed to a small group that she was a homosexual. (Of course, even in the dream I couldn't quite believe this. One part of me sure it was to get lesbian fans, and the other part fiercely protective of her secret.) There was also a book of photos of famous lesbian couples. I don't remember most, but Anne Hathaway had a girlfriend.
- I think I watched a little too much Oscars.
