It's not that I believe I am not the GOAT of something, it just seems so illogical that anyone else would ever think so.

I was terrible at accepting compliments until a buddy in college taught me how to do it: look the person right in the eye, smile broadly, and say, "Thank you!" He demonstrated with a really charming grin. Of course that doesn't work online....

Oh no, that happened to me in grade school (some boy wrote a fake Valentine) and it is THE WORST.

I had a few of the fake crushes.

The fake "Oh my gosh, I'd love to hear about what you're reading!" was worse though, because I didn't know it was fake until literally a decade later.

It doesn't... if it's a once off. It takes a repeat, sometimes two or three before I can accept that the praise is meant.

Ha ha, I always just throw my stuff out there and then I'm wildly amazed when someone else even reads it, lets alone comments on it. Like, oh right, other people can see this!
