I have a plan

At this point (I had a mostly successful review yesterday) all I have to do to get both a raise and company insurance is show up on time and do my job for the rest of October (and, everyone assumes, after that).
Hello, incentive.
Now, I'm not a morning person. But once I am actually awake, I'm pretty much ready for the day. So, I had a few options:
-- Keep waking up at 7 for work at 8, using a better alarm clock (end up being late, failing, suck) REJECTED
-- Wake up at 6, do some AM exercise, shower (issues with noise/waking up roommate/space for workout/hate showering in AM/hate having wet hair and using hair dryer) REJECTED
-- Wake up at 6, get dressed and awake, watch an hour of DVD (can find no fault in this plan) STARTING THE DAY WITH FANDOM FTW
So many reasons why this plan is awesome! I have been missing out on TV time because of derby, and this will fill a huge gap in my life. (Sad but true.) I am so freaking happy about this. Watching every X-Files episode ever is no longer an unreachable goal!

I tend to do something similar. I don't have to leave for work till about half 7 but if I don't have an hour or so to ease myself into the day I'm good for nothing.
Oh X-Files, how I loved it.
I got so hacked off with it around S5 though; I got the feeling that they were never going to answer all those big questions they were asking. The one-off episodes were always fabulous ("Clyde Bruckman's Final Repose" was my absolute favourite of any episode I ever saw) but the long-term arc plot started to make me want to scream. I really must give it another chance now it's been a few years and I know that they've come to a final conclusion, whatever that conclusion may be ....
Good luck with the work related stuff :)
