aphrodite_mineThis is my FIRST YEAR participating! If I've managed to do something that's frowned upon in my sign up, please ignore it! I LOVE women. I love visual media. And I love music! My favorite vids are ones that make me consider the original media in a new light. I know that's sort of... out there? But yeah. There's no need to build a whole other AU or a plotline -- though those things are perfectly rad! -- because I like just... THINKING about media and seeing things in different orders, with different music, different pacing, and seeing how those things change the media. For insight into the sort of music I most like, check out my last.fm page. Overall, I prefer more serious vids than hilarious montages of silly things.
A bit more info on the fandoms I selected...
The Inside: Rebecca Locke is life. Her entire arc is incredible and I can't narrow down from there. I love how dark this show is, how gritty. I love Rebecca's journey, her manipulation, the raw feeling buried deep underneath. I also love Mel and Web and Alvarez and Gem. Something moody and terrible and wonderful.
Evil Dead: From dark, goth rock to lilting singer songwriter, I have all the feelings about this movie and Mia and the color red. Is it weird to have feelings about a color? I HAVE FEELINGS ABOUT A COLOR. I ship David/Mia, but you don't have to.
Top of the Lake: Robin. Robin all the time. Robin and guns, Robin and feelings, Robin and Johnno, Robin and Tui. Love the scenery of this show -- who doesn't -- so obviously not opposed to lots and lots of gorgeous outdoor shots.
Hard Candy: Colors! This movie is so bright and gorgeous and Hayley is the most badass badass. And okay, I lied, if you want to do AU backstory or futurestory about Hayley using other Ellen Page media, I would so be down for that noise. But mostly, Hayley being incredible and badass and eating chocolate cake.
Stoker: So sexy and wrong and RIGHT. India is amazing, and her mom is super rad, and Charlie kinda sucks but damn he's a good sexual catalyst. Here for gothic themes, coming of age, and MURDER.
Dogtooth: Love how white/stark this movie is! And the utter WTF doesn't hurt either. You could go full-on in about a thousand mood directions and have it work.
Mad Men: With a longer canon, there are a lot more options. I like single episode vids, I like series-spanning character studies, I like mood pieces, I like compilations. I like Betty and Peggy and Joyce and Beth and Sally and ladies with ladies and ladies loving ladies and ladies in the ladies room. Power and victories and very little Don.
Masters of Sex: Virginia Johnson. Lady hero. She's so savvy and treats other women like people and sex like sex. Definitely not a Gini/Bill shipper, but Virginia and all the ladies (and her kids, love her kids) and all the sex.
