I've found myself somewhat back in fannish territory, circling stories I want to tell, in Professor Marston and the Wonder Women. As such, I finally spent an evening digging through the meager AO3 selection. I found that a lot of authors seem to want to erase Bill from the narrative completely and re-write Elizabeth and Olive as lesbians. If there's a place for that it certainly is fandom, but that's not what I'm interested in. Also hitting my no list: long paragraphs that tick the boxes of descriptions, and long speeches without action. As such, reading helped me clarify the types of stories that I want to tell with them, and I have two recs!
my hands are shaking (from holding back from you) by sixtywattgloom has a distinct focus on Olive and Elizabeth without totally writing Bill off. The plot absolutely tickled me--I caught myself grinning at the screen a few times, even! Notes for rope play, BDSM with role switching, and somewhat public sex.
in vino veritas by ProfessorSpork is short but so sweet and wonderfully in character. Notes for alcohol.
Honorable mentions (worth reading!):
Some Sharper Truth by scioscribe, post film
A Mouth Full of Hell, and A Chest Full of Hell Yes by wordpunk, incomplete WIP
sunlight on the surface of the sea by Anonymous (for Yuletide 2020, inspired by the same letter that caught my eye)
