-- 11 new-to-me fandoms
-- 7 ficathons/exchanges
-- 16 femslash fics, 6 gen fics, 5 het fics, 1 slash fic, and 3 that included poly
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
About what I predicted, though it feels like less. It's almost on-par withlast year 2010, and actually I have a higher word count.
What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
Alana/Hannibal, and so much of it! Also, I was pretty against watching Orphan Black, so that.
What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
brave smile and a great heart is probably the most impressive to me, in terms of what I set out to do and what I accomplished. I worked fucking HARD on that story. Also, I'm truly impressed by what mage_girl and I have done with lagniappe.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
I like taking pinch hits for exchanges I believe in. I write more/better when I am writing for someone else/for a deadline. I CAN set a profic goal and attain it!!!
Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Edit my thesis and present it. (Note: 'two bodies converging...' is included!)
From my past year of writing, what was ...
My best story
see: anything I wrote for an exchange. and a breath, a finger grip...
My most popular
lagniappe, by virtue of being hugely long and in a huge fandom; two bodies converging… and we are the half-destroyed instruments… got some really excellent recs
Story of mine most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion
Evil Dead is a super small fandom in the first place, so tell your mother… because yeah.
Most fun story to write
Alarm Clock because cat puns
Sexiest story
A warm breath on the back of your neck… is the porniest, but I'll go with a breath, a finger grip because its one that I still re-read and think, holy mackerel. How did you do that?
Most "Holy crap, that's wrong, even for you" story
Definitely lagniappe. We're editing chapter 12 right now, and the cannibalism is impressive.
Story that shifted my own perceptions of the characters
None
Hardest story to write
Oh jeez, what *wasn't* hard to write this year? Self-doubt and real life were kicking me in the pants at every turn. Probably my biggest 'block' was over I heard the wind inside me crying. mage_girl will tell you, I was hung UP on that shit.
Biggest disappointment
I'm particularly disappointed by my old heart. It just… it's lifeless.
Most unintentionally telling story
My yuletide fic. For so many reasons.
9. What was your biggest failure? No failures. I think I did pretty awesome at everything, given circumstances!
