End of year TV meme, stolen from [livejournal.com profile] summerstorm:

Okay, I need to start off by saying HOLY CRAP a year is a long time. If I didn't have a GetGlue account (shameless plug!) I would never have been able to remember some of this stuff. January was a SUPER LONG time ago. Like 11.5 months! And I watched a LOT of TV during those 11.5 months!

Which TV shows did you start watching in 2011?

New TV: Once Upon a Time, Game of Thrones, Playboy Club, Up All Night, Suburgatory, Oddities, The Killing, Portlandia
Still Currently Airing/Catch-up Watch: The Good Wife, Fringe, Wainy Days, Lost Girl, Warehouse 13, Mad Men
Dead Shows: Better off Ted, Arrested Development (did I start it before 2011? Not sure, and yes until I see actual new episodes this is a dead show), Luther, Circus, Terminator: TSCC

Which TV shows did you let go of in 2011?

True Blood (so proud of myself), Saturday Night Live (I miss Amy Poehler too much), NTSF:SD:SUV (got built up on my to-download, so I figured I wasn't that into it), Project Runway (was easy to watch when I had cable, but between having to find a download and how boringass it was...), Louie (a disappointing/frustrating reminder that while people may be awesome, and have awesome shows, they can still be assholes)

Which TV shows did you mean to get into but didn't in 2011? Why?

There are a bunch of shows sitting on my to-watch list that have been sidelined for whatever reason. Not that I don't want to watch them, I just want to watch other things more. These include Ashes to Ashes, No 1 Ladies' Detective Agency, Freaks & Geeks, Farscape, Downton Abbey, The Closer, The Wire, Flight of the Conchords, Afterlife -- all things I definitely want to keep watching.

And there's a ton of shows I tried but didn't continue: Prime Suspect (wanted to like, too frustrating), Pretty Little Liars (just not my thing), Pan Am (ugh. I don't know), Charlie's Angels (It's pretty much universally acknowledged as horrible), The Slap (Interesting premise, but I wasn't ever really interested), Enlightened (Oh god, I couldn't make it through a single episode), Community (I MAY go back to this sometime. A lot is super iffy for me), The Body Farm (interesting, just not enough to come back), 2 Broke Girls (Holy racism, Batman! I won't endure that even for the gayest main characters since Ann and Leslie), Adventure Time (I can see the appeal, but it isn't for me), Wilfred (brain bleach is necessary), Slide (didn't draw me in), Deadwood (I have heard good things about awesome women, but I almost fell asleep and then there were so many menssss), Alphas (a bit too episodic for my tastes), Torchwood Miracle Day (ehhhhhh), Marchlands (again, interesting but lost my attention), Giggolos (the sort of thing I might watch if it were just on... but any effort seems not worth it), Shameless US (Nope. I gave it a fare shot, but it passed my squick limit), Lip Service (I gave this more episodes than I should have -- damn you Laura Frasier for being so pretty), Covert Affairs (I feel like I should like this, but just don't), Dexter (Lumen's arc was awesome, but I have very little desire to watch any more), Criminal Minds (NO), Raising Hope (overall meh about this).

Which TV shows do you intend on checking out in 2012?

I'll continue to tick off my to-watch, I also want to give Cougar Town a try. And possibly Homeland.

Which TV show impressed you least in 2011?

All the ones I don't watch, the ones I quit and the ones I "didn't continue".

Which TV show do you think you might let go of in 2012 unless things significantly improve?

Possibly Game of Thrones. I am very iffy about a lot of it, but there is also a lot to love. I don't know. Similar thoughts on Lost Girl, but I'm not caught up either, so I don't know what to think. The Killing, which I won't watch unless the Sunday crew wants to keep going, despite Linden's fluffy fluffy ponytail. Once Upon a Time if it continues to work the birth mom/adoptive mom/"REAL" mom angle. Warehouse 13, if [spoiler] stays dead.

Which TV shows do you think you'll never let go of no matter how crappy they get? Why?

I'm pretty good at giving things up, but Fringe has wormed its way into my heart -- that's probably the only show that could withstand the crappy test for me right now, and the only one not already on the bubble that I think might GET crappy (again).

Which bits of Game of Thrones are you iffy about? Because the only thing I found particularly problematic is most of the fandom (very) and the Dothraki native = bad thing. Some of these things I just don't see 'til they're mentioned.

Dothraki stuff was very problematic. D was raped into enjoying sex/falling in love with her rapist. That's probably the biggest issue I have right now.

And, yeah. The fandom. GOOD GOD.

Ah, yeah. That. I don't know why the fuck they changed that. Maybe to make Jorah more likeable.

Best avoided, on nearly all counts. Biggest case of 'you're missing the point' I've ever seen in a collective fandom.

I don't watch a lot of these! Mad Men I keep try, and failing, to get into. Arrested to Development is an old favorite, as is Freaks and Geeks. Have you ever watched My So-Called Life?

Game of Thrones took me so long to get into, and even when I got into it I still had my reservations so I'm reading the books but I'm still rather wary about how flippant the fandom about some issues. I shamelessly love Cougar Town.

Homeland! I've been meaning to get into that but completely forgot about it.

It helps with shows like Mad Men (unfamiliar time period, etc etc) to just dive in, and it also helps to watch with friends... and I did both, and by the time I got midway through the season I was hooked. I'm having trouble getting in to Freaks and Geeks, actually. And yes, I watched MSCL ages ago when it aired on Teen Nick (when it was Noggin?) at 3 in the morning.

Oh the old days when Teen Nick was mainly for insomniacs. I loved MSCL to death, Freaks and Geeks may be a little harder to get in to though. I remember being bored the first few episodes and then I started latching on to characters which got me through.
