Tideland. Which was uber dark in a million ways, but ironically the underage sexual content was cheerful and positive. WTF, Terry Gilliam, you're delightfully odd. (Though in the book the character is 12 or 13 so it's a little less...outcry-worthy? I dunno.) Yet Tideland had a little girl in neglectful, abusive, perilous situations AND making out with a guy in his 30s and no one blinked. I guess because no one saw it. Or because the kid wasn't Dakota Fanning, Shirley Temple 2.0. I don't know that Tideland succeeded on all levels (and pretty much all critics HATED it for some reason), but it was gutsy, at least, and imaginative. And Jodelle Ferland > Dakota Fanning.
I suppose I'd just be called a pervert if I complained about not seeing KStew and Dakota get it on onscreen ;)
