I felt roughly the same way (I would guess) as you did for the first couple of months until Antichrist came on general release. My opinion still really wavers from day to day on the film. I really admire large swathes of it but I can't deny that sitting down to the first forty minutes of an oddly paced drama about grief appeals to me quite as much as the truly frightening stuff.

Von Trier's mother was a feminist, and he's said that she's be rolling in her grave if she'd seen Antichrist (his words, not mine). There's that argument that he's a feminist because he allows these actresses incredible performances and that they're ultimately strong, but as the press materials for the film state (here's (http://www.artificial-eye.com/database/cinema/antichrist//pdf/pressbook.pdf) the link, the interview with Knud Romer is really interesting stuff) that Von Trier has "flirted" with pornography in his films, esp. The Idiots - and also his involvement in Puzzy Power/HotMale - that throws it into debate.

But of course, that depends what strain of feminism we're talking about. I mean, I think feminism is an amazing thing that I support but would I necessarily consider myself one? Maybe a hypocritical one, due to my use of pornography. Maybe I've opened a whole new tin of beans here...
