Movies (10/15)
For Liz & J's birthdays we went to Drinkolas Cage, where a bar puts on a random Nick Cage movie and there is a drinking game. The movie was Ghost Rider 2: Spirit of Vengeance. It was bad, but it was a great time!

TV Seasons (4/10)
Finished Sort Of, which I haven't seen make the cultural splash I think it is really due. It is so deeply queer, and made me cry in agender. This is SUCH a rich text, and so funny and sad and stressful and beautiful and sexy and all of the things! Sabi, the main character is a nonbinary child of immigrants currently working as a nanny and exploring gender presentation. Their world is thrown for a loop when the mother of the family they nanny for (and their good friend) falls into a coma.

I just searched the Abbott Elementary fics on AO3, and... the main ship is Barbara/Melissa????? How did my brain TOTALLY miss this? My femslash muscles are damn rusty, apparently.

Isn't that AMAZING that the Abbott juggernaut (lol) is Barbara/Melissa? I, too, was surprised and then super-delighted. I haven't *read* anything, yet, but there we are.

I didn't know Sort Of was available outside of Canada, coolness! It is right near the top of my to-finish pile (I caught a couple eps but not in any meaningful way).

I am trying to think of something to write for bethefirst. I finally settled on a canon at least? Good on you for finishing!

It honestly makes me feel so old and weary and like I'm lying in the dust going, "Okay, enjoy it kids" like an old soldier. (laugh cry emoji, salute emoji) But yes, awesome. :D

HBO Max picked it up as an "original" - I was so happy at how Canadian it is! The last bunch of episodes are just... PHEW. Amazing gut punches.

I'm psyched that CBC got HBO-level money, that rocks! Especially for something so cool.

Ha, I had wondered why that had popped up on letterboxd! No judgment, just unexpected. Hearing about that makes me miss Hecklevision, where they'd screen a bad movie & you'd text jokes that got displayed on screen.

I've only seen one ep of Sort Of, but only because I am terrible at follow-through on English language tv, & because I only think of it when I am not in the mood to feel quite that array of feelings.

I keep meaning to watch Sort Of. There's just so much good TV out there now and not enough time in the day. It's nice to see that Fab Fillipo has done well for himself, too.
