the world wide

- Movies: 4/15 - No progress.
- TV Seasons: 10/10 - Will likely blow this goal out of the water and then some.
- Puzzles: 6/12 - But have started #7, it is POPSICLES
- Crafts: 0/1
- Writing: 0/3-5 - But I'm hoping to/planning to sign up for [community profile] everywoman  and probably [community profile] femslashex , so fingers crossed. I need to keep taking my meds so I fucking care about things. It is kind of nice.

I saw a meme that said libras cope with mercury retrograde by meal planning - I have no fewer than 15 recipes open to log. Please send me links to ones you like too. We have loads of bonus fruits and veggies for the summer months (thanks, pandemic WIC benefit) so recipes that are heavy on them are extra appreciated.

I like to make quinoa, dress it with olive oil and lemon juice, and then throw in handfuls of chopped herbs and whatever veg you've got. I like mint and basil, bell peppers and cucumbers, tomatoes. But it really can be just a whatever.

The other thing I have just discovered is that you can take yellow crook neck squash and shave it into strips with a veg peeler (stop at the seeds) and then marinate in lemon juice and herbs and little olive oil and it's an amazing salad. I've done mint and lemon, lime + cilantro + sesame oil. You can tweak it however you want.

Meds are good! I am very glad to hear you’ve got meds that work for you atm, I don’t know if it’s a new development but just happy either way.

I don’t cook a lot but I can recommend a couple blogs if you feel like browsing some? https://nirvanacakery.com/ is dessert, but all vegan so presumably uses a lot of fruit/veg, and https://www.theawesomegreen.com/ is vegetarian and does more actual meals.

Something I’ve found about myself recently is that I kinda crave veggies if I have two meals a day (still a novelty, I started getting up before lunch like... four months ago). One of my favorite things is a bed of spinach under fish (I like catfish, I know that’s weird, also works for salmon but salmon and asparagus is a standard that stands up). Extra weird, my favorite veg is cauliflower, but I’m pretty boring about that and broccoli, I usually just steam them, but they’re also great pan roasted and my sister loves battered, deep fried cauliflower for reasons I can’t fathom.

If you have specific fruits/veggies I can try to come up with specific things to do with them though! My mom makes a mean strawberry bavarois, for example. Cherries go amazing with ajoblanco. (I looked it up, the wiki’s title is the same.)

I’m a very picky eater myself and most of my pickiness revolves around vegetables, fish, and how things are cooked (e.g. pasta and rice, thought I hated them both my whole life till I realize it was the way they were cooked) so I feel you there. If you can find sturgeon or duck in your area and it’s not financially prohibitive you should have some and send pics, lol. Swiss chard is a nice, sort of neutral thing to eat the same way you’d eat spinach or lettuce and I literally found out I liked it last year. I found out I liked endives in 2019.

Are mushrooms something you’re also getting from the co-op thing? Those make such great sauces for meat. They don’t always reheat super well, unfortunately, but within the day they’re very good and you can always make sandwiches with those leftovers, though I assume I’m preaching to the choir there. I hate cooked carrots but they add a lot to sauces. Artichokes are great? Like, the whole thing in a nice sauce or a stew - yummy.

(I really enjoy talking about food, in case you couldn’t tell.)
