The fact that someone may write Antichrist fanfiction makes my heart swell with anticipation. I wasn't the biggest fan of the film, but I haven't been able to shake it since I saw it in June.

I don't think it's the mutilation that pushes it into the territory of misogyny, but rather the sudden incorporation of witchcraft into the story. It's uncomfortable because it feels like the tables are getting turned on us so quickly in regards to the audience's sympathy for Her, and while it swings back and forth for the remainder of the film, the swift way it's introduced to give way to the (I'm going to use the word...) madness feels a bit too much like Von Trier, always a prankster, getting his digs. I always imagine him chuckling with a fedora on.

ps. Here's the reaction I wrote to Antichrist when I saw it a while back: http://denofgeek.com/movies/274024/edinburgh_film_festival_lars_von_triers_antichrist.html
